Seniors Eye Exam
Alberta Health Care provides routine eye exam coverage for patients of age 65 and older to maintain their geriatric eye health. Call us in Fort McMurray, Drayton Valley, Leduc, and Prince Albert to schedule your next appointment. Most services are insured, but coverage is limited to one complete eye exam per year. There are some exceptions based on clinical need. For example, patients with glaucoma, diabetes, or cataracts may need additional "follow up" procedures.
Vision changes are inevitable. Being proactive with our eye health (generally via eye exams every year) is the best way to ensure that you preserve as much of your vision as possible.
Our eyes change significantly as we age. Many eye diseases and conditions, such as cataracts, are more likely to develop with age. Alberta Health recognizes the importance of eye exams for senior citizens, and we encourage you to take advantage of that.
